Denver Broncos offensive line coach Mike Munchak is away from the team after being placed in the COVID-19 protocol, KOA NewsRadio reported Wednesday.

Munchak entered the protocol on Tuesday. Assistant offensive line coach Chris Kuper is taking over for Munchak.

Broncos running back coach Curtis Modkins is back after testing positive for COVID-19, but 9News reported that contract tracing reveals Munchak's case is unrelated. Being placed in the protocol means a person tested positive or came into contact with someone who did.

Munchak, 60, joined the Broncos last year after coming up short in his bid for the head coaching job, which went to Vic Fangio.

Munchak was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2011-13, compiling a 22-26 record. He played 12 years in the league with the then Houston Oilers, starting 156 of 159 games. He was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
